What is the Bidens $1 million dollar Romanian corruption case all about
I will start by saying that when this Biden bribery scheme happened in Romania, the government of Romania was formed by the corrupt beyond belief PSD (a socialist political Party, heir to the defunct Communist Party), who's leader Liviu Dragnea is now serving time in prison for corruption.
This is the man who gave the $1 million bribe to the Bidens: Gabriel Popoviciu, a Romanian real estate tycoon. He was convicted to 7 years in prison for a scheme in which he illegally obtained 560 acres of prime real estate land near the international Bucharest-Otopeni airport for pennies on the dollar.

What was the purpose of the $1 million bribe Popoviciu gave to Hunter which in turn passed to his father VP Biden? Just like in the Ukraine's Burisma scandal, VP Biden was supposed to put pressure on the Romanian government to stop the criminal investigation against Popoviciu.

Hunter Biden was hired by Romanian tycoon to overturn conviction case.
One person was responsible for Popoviciu's downfall and the unraveling of the Biden's illegal scheme: Laura Codruta Covesi, the Director of Romanian Anti-Corruption Directorate. She was the one who resisted immense pressure from the corrupt PSD Party and won.
Biden tried to fire Kovesi from her job, but her office was directly subordinated to the office of the President of Romania which was a member of the opposition Liberal Party. At the same time this was happening she was investigating the leader of the PSD ruling party Liviu Dragnea for corruption, in a case in which he misappropriated government funds destined for orphanages and used those funds to pay the salaries of three secretaries working at his socialist Party headquarters.
The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis shielded Kovesi from Dragnea and his government attacks for several years while her investigations on Popoviciu and Dragnea continued.
Nevertheless, due to a corrupt Supreme Court decision, Kovesi was removed from her position. But her removal was already too late though for Dragnea and Popoviciu. The justice followed its course, the Romanian people went to the ballot box twice (first for the EU Parliament elections, then for the Romanian elections) and removed Dragnea and his government from power. Dragne was immediately arrested and Popoviciu the real estate tycoon who paid the Bidens $1 million to fire the head of the Romanian Anti-Corruption Directorate, fled justice abroad in the UK.

Kovesi sued the Romanian government in the Hague International Court for her illegal firing and won. Then as a recognition of her merits she was elected as the head of the newly formed European Union Public Prosecutor Office, which is the EU anti-corruption investigation agency.

The Biden modus operandi in the Romanian corruption case of Popoviciu is a repeat of what he did when he was paid by the Ukrainian oligarch Zlochevsky to make the Burisma investigation go away by firing Ukraine's chief prosecutor.
In Ukraine, the scheme worked. In Romania, it didn't. Popoviciu paid the Bidens $1 million and got nothing in return due to the resilience of Laura Codruta Kovesi and the refusal of the Romanian President to bend the knee to the American crook from the White House who took the bribe then came to visit Romania and corrupt justice.
End note: the new US Embassy to Romania was built in 2012 on the land Popoviciu stole from the Romanian people. Popoviciu is still in the UK pending an appeal trial for his extradition to Romania.
Thank goodness for people like Laura Kovesi! And for the fact that she prevailed. I worry that in the US, she’d end up like one of the J6 prisoners, or worse. Biden is such a corrupt POS.
